    Summer in Southern Iceland

    We are excited to remind the agenda for the 2013 Arctic Energy Summit! It is filled with speakers who are leaders in the industry, academic, government and non-profit sectors around the world.

    These speakers will help us explore key questions related to areas of interest including:

    • New energy resources and a region that is rich in assets
    • Strategies for northern resilience – maintaining valuable cultural traditions in times of immense economic and environmental change
    • Technological and project advancements for increasing system lifespans
    • Public sector incentives and development of a positive investment climate
    • Global market trends that impact policy or create pressures on development.

    Inuit Leaders Meet in Nuuk, Greenland

    Inuit leaders from Canada, Russia, USA and Greenland

    During the 28. June to July 2. The ICC holds it’s general assembly in Nuuk, Greenland.

    Inuit Leaders from Canada, Russia, USA & Greenland come together every four years to discuss the development in the arctic and their common concerns- and the meeting now is especially focused on during the meeting:

    • Environment, including Climate Change
    • Political and economic development
    • Health and Well-being
    • Hunting and Food Security
    • Governance
    • Inuit Arctic Policy

    Climate change and many other issues that are effecting the arctic, and thereby the Inuit, need to be discussed and a common policy or guidelines formulated.

    The International Institute for Sustainable Development is currently recruiting northern Canadian youth to take part in a six-month internship program “Circumpolar Young Leaders Program”. Placements are with leading organizations working on northern issues in other circumpolar countries and in southern Canada.

    The Circumpolar Young Leaders Program is now offering 5 internships for young people between the ages of 20-30 living in or originally from Nunavut, NWT, Yukon, Northern Quebec and or, Labrador. It is anticipated that training will take place in September and the 6 month placements starting immediately following the training.

    Applications will be accepted until June 22, 2009, or until placements are filled. Placements will start in September.
